Clifford D. Curry, President and founder of CGI Technical Services has been involved in the geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and inspection industry for over 27 years. His experience includes operations and staff management, project management, marketing, estimating, project technical and geotechnical report writing, asphalt concrete design and forensic analysis, as well as testing and inspection during construction of nuclear power plants, hospitals, bridges and roadways, parking structures, landfills, mining facilities, commercial buildings, and industrial projects throughout the western United States. His responsibilities have included field and laboratory testing and inspection of construction materials, including mass grading of soils, deep dynamic compaction, drilled piers, driven piles, conventional foundations, retaining walls, structural concrete, post tensioning and post-tensioned concrete, reinforced masonry, asphalt concrete, epoxy injection and pressure grouting, geotextile and geosynthetic reinforced fabrics, roofing, fireproofing, structural steel welding and erection, and underwater inspection of geosynthetic liners and lining systems. He has held positions of Technician, Senior Technician, Laboratory Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, and President. His responsibilities have included supervision of field and laboratory staff and operations, personnel, project coordination and management, technical reports, project billing, quality control, and technical staff training. He has been responsible for lending technical support in the field, acting as client liaison, marketing technical services, preparation of proposals and scope and cost revisions, and project management. As President of CGI Technical Services, Mr. Curry develops and maintains the company vision. Oversees all areas and company departments. Approves all financial obligations. Seeks business opportunities and strategic alliances with other organizations. Plans, develops and establishes policies and objectives of business organization and technical marketing.     Jim is a certified engineering geologist with more than 20 years of experience managing and providing engineering geologic services for geotechnical projects located throughout California and in the former Soviet Union. Jim has provided services for a wide variety of public works, private, petroleum-related, and governmental projects. His expertise includes rock and soil slope stability assessment and stabilization; liquefaction and lateral spreading evaluations; geohazards studies for numerous schools and critical facilities; fault hazards assessments; estimation of ground shaking and seismicity; geologic and geotechnical services for small- and large-diameter pipelines; installation, monitoring, and interpretation of field instrumentation programs; and studies for shallow and deep foundation systems. Jim’s experience extends from relatively small projects to extremely large, complex studies. Recently, while working for others, Jim was the responsible engineering geologist for the preliminary geotechnical studies on Yerba Buena Island for the replacement of the San Francisco to Oakland Bay Bridge. In addition, Jim managed all facets of geotechnical services for the design and construction of 73-miles of large diameter pipeline, two 2.5-million gallon water tanks, a 40-million-gallon per-day water treatment facility, a pump station, and a 1,300-foot long microtunneling alignment associated with the extension of the California State Water project.

    Don is an Engineering Geologist for CGI Technical Services. He is a registered geologist with more than 8 years of experience and expertise in detailed geotechnical studies, in-depth exploration programs, surface and subsurface hydrology investigations, and geomorphic and geologic mapping projects. Don has worked on geotechnical and hydrologic projects throughout California, North and South Carolina, South Dakota, Oregon, Washington State, Alaska and Sweden. Don has experience managing and performing geotechnical investigations for private, municipal and government development projects,
    including: shallow and deep footing design investigations, slope stability investigations, and seismic hazard investigations. Don is proficient in both non-invasive and invasive geotechnical exploration techniques, including, resistivity, and seismic reflection and refraction surveys, cone penetration tests (CPT), dilatometer tests, and pressure meter tests (PMT), and has managed complex subsurface exploration projects in a wide range of geologic terrain and of varying political complexity. Don’s geotechnical and hydrologic experience has carried over into mine site characterization and remediation, with an emphasis in acid mine drainage (AMD). Recently, while working for others, Don has performed several watershed-level geologic evaluations throughout the Sierra Nevada, Coast Range and Klamath Mountain provinces, some of which have required the use of his extensive knowledge and experience in the design and development of sediment inventory and sampling programs. In addition, Don has performed geotechnical evaluations of more than 400,000 acres of private timber land in conformance with the California Geologic Survey’s Note 45, “Guidelines for Engineering Geologic Reports for Timber Harvesting Plans” (September, 1999).

While at Cal Poly she was involved in several horse related activities such as Ranch Horse Enterprise Project, Breeding Enterprise Project and an intern for the National Reined Cow Horse Association. She spent over 2 years working in the Agriculture Industry managing fertilizer and chemical inventories for a large company in the Sacramento Valley. She then worked at an environmental testing laboratory processing samples and reporting data. Jessica is new to the geotechnical and construction industry, but has shown an immediate grasp of the technical aspects of laboratory procedures and techniques.
